Mobilization is a manual therapy that aims to improve and increase movement and functional restrictions in joints. There are immediate changes in pain and movement. It can improve balance capabilities and focus on attaining a normal pain free range of motion to make something movable or more capable of movement.
Why might you need joint mobilisation?
You might be suffering from joint pain and stiffness, acquired equinus of the ankle joint, non-inflammatory pain, acute pain from Injury, decreased range of motion from arthritic conditions, post-surgical conditions.
For full or pain free movement of your joints they need to move freely in all directions that they were designed for. If they have become too locked or restricted in any particular direction, you can experience pain and or stiffness. This can be associated with any joint muscle ligament or tendon injury. Plus joints can be locked or become stuck in an open or closed position. Normally a simple alignment or control issue has caused the joint to move in an awkward or unnatural direction. Joints become dysfunctional as a result of trauma, overuse or disuse they are unable to perform the movements for which they were designed.
